Five Guys is a fast food chain specializing in burgers and hot dogs. The first restaurant was opened in 1986 in Arlington County, Virginia, by founders Janie and Jerry Murrell with Jerry and his four sons being the original “Five Guys”. In the next years several new locations were openend in the Washington, D.C., area. After starting to franchise the business in 2003, a rapid expansion followed. Today, there are over 1,000 outlets throughout the United States. In 2013, the first international location opened in London, UK.
The brand sports a retro image with red-and-white checkers and red uniforms. Compared to other hamburger chains, the menu of Five Guys is relatively small. The restaurant serves a selection of burgers, hot dogs, and sandwiches with french fries in two styles as the only side item. Five Guys burgers are priced higher than competitive products but many loyal fans consider the food tastier and of a higher quality.
