Starbucks Menu Prices

Starbucks is an international coffeehouse chain, coffee roaster and retailer. It is named after chief mate Starbuck from Herman Melville’s novel Moby-Dick. With 13,000 locations in the United States and 23,000 world-wide, it is the largest coffee chain in the world. In 1971, Jerry Baldwin, Zev Siegl, and Gordon Bowker opened the first store in Seattle, Washington. In 1987, the founders sold their assets to Howard Schultz, former employee and owner of the coffee chain “Il Giornale”. Schultz started the expansion throughout North America and took the company public in 1992. Fueled by acquisitions of other coffee chains and wholesellers, the expansion to Asian and European markets began in 1996.

The company with a twin-tailed mermaid in its logo serves coffee and tea beverages, ice-blended “Frappuccinos”, fruit-flavored refreshers, and smoothies. Most drinks are sold in three cup sizes: tall (12 oz), grande (16 oz), and venti (20 oz). Starbucks also sells whole bean and ground coffee, as well as bakery products. With prices of up to $5 for a coffee beverage, the chain has a reputation of being high-priced.
